As Eastern celebrates 30 years of producing thousands of quality graduates, it was the perfect opportunity to introduce the Alumni of the Year Award in recognition of what God is doing through our hard-working, passionate graduates. Nominated by one of his colleagues, Peter Lusk was chosen as Eastern’s first Alumni of the Year and we proudly presented him his award at this year’s Alumni Brunch.
Once upon a time, running a turf-farm with his brother, Peter is now the CEO for Southern Cross Kids’ Camps, an organisation that runs week-long camps for children who have experienced neglect or trauma.
Honouring Peter with this award recognises his work in this powerful ministry and his devotion to God’s call upon his life. Attending the College when it was known as Tabor, Peter studied a Diploma of Ministry and later applied his studies in his work as a Children’s Pastor. In Peter’s service as a Generations Pastor for Discovery church and working as a chaplain, his passion for caring for and empowering children and youth has been evident. Aside from his involvement with Southern Cross Kids’ Camps, Peter is a husband, father to three children and a grandfather. Through his character, life and work, Peter demonstrates our College’s building blocks of Faith, Reason and Justice. Peter’s work is an amazing example of God’s love for His people. At Eastern we are proud to have been a part of his journey and to have the opportunity to continue walking alongside him.
